Jack Weisman, is an acclaimed nonfiction director and Emmy-nominated cinematographer who is passionate about experiential films that defy easy classification. His unconventional and evocative work has screened at hundreds of international film festivals, including TIFF, SXSW, and Sundance. Jack’s breakout short film, Nuisance Bear, attempts to tell a story from a bear's-eye-view without words or music. The film received a record number of wins and nominations from Cinema Eye Honors Awards, Critics’ Choice Documentary Awards, and IDA Documentary Awards. In 2023, Nuisance Bear was shortlisted for an Academy Award® and nominated for two News and Documentary Emmys® for Outstanding Sound and Cinematography. The 13-minute film is distributed by The New Yorker and available for free online. Jack is currently in production on his debut feature to be released in 2025.

In 2016, Jack co-founded the Peabody and Emmy award-winning production company Documist with his childhood friends from Ithaca, NY. Jack was an Executive Producer for The Territory directed by Alex Pritz and produced by Darren Aronofsky. The Territory is distributed by National Geographic Documentary Films and available worldwide on Disney+.

Surprisingly, unlike his bio, Jack tries his best not to take himself too seriously. He lives in Toronto and can frequently be found at High Park defending himself from strangers for bringing a hairless dog to Canada.
